There was 11 cm of snow on the doorstep today. More snow coming down. No buses, no mainline trains, but tube was working but busy.
I got to the office 9:06, to find the office closed, keyholders all prevented from arriving. A note says it should open around 10:30.
Went to take pictures, sit in warm coffee shop. Streets are very quiet, traffic cautions on the ice and slush. I saw a motorbike fall over sideways, get back up again. At the local housing estate, mother and kids making a big snowman, playing "catch the snowball" with two happy dogs.
No, in fact London is not prepared for a little snow.
I wandered back to the office at 10:00 am, to find it is open. There are 4 of us on the 4th floor (seats about 40).
I'm not staying here until the usual 5:30-6pm. If it thaws, transport could be disrupted. You know, more than it is. If it snows more, likewise. I'd like to make it home today, maybe erect a snowman on the back lawn. it'll be much nicer than sleeping on the office floor. If it's all melty tomorrow AM transport is going to be as bad, if not worse.
